Glenn Maxwell has been named Kings XI Punjab captain for the tenth period of the IPL, which begins on April 5. The Australian allrounder assumes control over the part from M Vijay, who was selected captain halfway through the last season. Kings XI had dropped David Miller as Kings for Vijay after the side had lost five of their initial six gmaes in 2016.
The move did not prevent Kings XI from completing keep going for the second progressive season. Maxwell has never captained in the 338 matches he has played crosswise over configurations and has been picked for the part in front of Eoin Morgan, who drove England to the World T20 last in 2016, and Darren Sammy, who captained West Indies to two T20 World Cup titles.
Maxwell has had a disappointing last two seasons in the IPL, overseeing 324 keeps running in 22 matches with just two fifties. In 2014, however, he had assumed a significant part - piling on 552 keeps running in 16 matches at a strike rate of 187.75 - in Kings XI's hurry to their lady last.
Notwithstanding another commander, Kings XI will have another second home this season, with Indore's Holkar Stadium set to host three matches: on April 8 (v Rising Pune Supergiant), April 10 (v Royal Challengers Bangalore) and April 20 (v Mumbai Indians). The Punjab Cricket Association stadium in Mohali will arrange whatever remains of Kings XI's home matches
